Meeting Monday night

Our next regular squadron meeting will be held Monday night 10 JUL at DE WG HQ at 1900.  See agenda for details.

DELDOT REPORTERS NEEDED

Personnel are needed to support the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) flights.  The Delaware Civil Air Patrol currently flies two missions a day to support the DelDOT flights and an integral part of the mission is the DelDOT reporter that transmits traffic information to the Traffic Management Center (TMC).

All interested personnel should contact Capt Alison Aubrey for more information and/or indicate their availability.

Civil Air Patrol, Air Force ready to assist with Hurricane Katrina

Colonel Charles S. Glass, Middle East Region Commander, reports that the region is still on "standby" for duty in the hurricane zone.   It does not appear that we will be called to duty in the very near term.   When we are called, it will be for very specific resources or members with particular skills.

Based on analysis of the information presented, the CAP is gradually increasing its presence in the disaster area as the emphasis shifts from air rescue and helicopters to ground SAR.   All tasking is being coordinated through the national FEMA center and the various state emergency operations centers.   CAP resources and tasking are being coordinated through the CAP National Operations Center at Maxwell AFB.   All CAP personnel MUST receive authorization from the NOC before proceeding to the disaster area for duty.

Immediate Actions:

1.   SDIS aircraft and crews are expected to be the primary resource requested from CAP.   Some ground rescue teams and emergency communications (mobile or airmobile repeaters) may be required along with appropriate unit transportation for all these resources.

2.   Aircraft and vehicles should be serviced and made ready for extended deployment.   Consider completing inspections and other mandatory maintenance earlier than normal in order to have the equipment fully serviceable.   Charge all batteries supporting the SDIS equipment.   Members should check personal equipment and supplies and replenish / replace as required.   Remember -- be prepared to support all of your own needs without relying on the local population.

3.   All wings must update their emergency response asset lists in the NHQ computer (WIMMERS) so that the NOC will have current and correct information at all times.   If there are any changes to wing availability, this fact needs to be immediately posted to the national computer.

Please report your availability to Colonel Larry Kibler if you would like to volunteer for possible deployment.

Our meetings are held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 7:00 p.m.
Our squadron  meetings are held at the CAP Delaware Wing HQ Office located in the Lower level of the New Castle County Airport terminal building.  Just enter either of the doors, turn left, and descend the stairs at the end of the hallway
